Needless to say, this comic spoils a crucial moment toward the end of the film.

I drew this with my sketchbook in my theatre seat because I wanted to get the idea down before it left my head. I think it came out pretty good considering I drew it in the dark! :)

In one of my old Disney comics (a book from 1991) I saw this ad for a Final Fantasy comic book featuring art by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola! It looks like Kingdom Hearts wasn't the first Disney/Square cross-over after all!

...Naturally, I was intrigued. But upon searching, I found out that this comic never made it to press. Neither of the sites I buy from had it listed and the only hits I got from search engines were other people who saw this ad in a Disney comic and were also trying to figure out if this thing actually existed or not.

I'm a little disappointed that this thing was never published. It looks like it would have been gloriously campy (check the mullet on the upper left)!

Oh, in case you're wondering what book I found this ad in, here it is:

I saw The Secret World of Arrietty on Sunday and I thought I'd give my two cents on it here (and leave out the spoilers for those who haven't seen it).

Arrietty had the same "slice of life" tone and feel as Totoro. Nothing really "big" happened until the end. Most of the fun in this film comes from watching the creative way the tiny race of Borrowers build their homes from found human objects (in that respect, it reminded me of Rescue Rangers. Some of the rooms in the Borrowers' home even resembled Ranger HQ! XD).
The plot is very simple; but it's executed well and it never gets boring. I was in a theatre full of small children and I didn't hear any of them whine about being bored or start fussing once the movie started.

I wanted to see this on the big screen before it was gone, so I went out to do so this morning. It's been so long since I sat down and watched it that I had forgotten how freakin' AMAZING this movie really is! The voices, the pacing, the visuals, the songs....everything goes together perfectly. I'm somewhat immune to crying at the "death scene" since I, like every other little girl, saw this movie hundreds of times as a kid. But the Howard Ashman dedication still gets to me. Poor guy.

As for the 3D...

I finished Epic Mickey a few days ago and I absolutely LOVED it. The Gameplay was hit-and-miss; but the story was fantastic! Granted, the story is best appreciated if you're an animation buff and/or Disney fan who already knows the history behind Oswald The Lucky Rabbit and how he contributed to Mickey Mouse's creation. But I think the story stands pretty well on it's own and could also be enjoyed by newbies as a regular "long lost brothers reunite and reconcile" story.

BTW, my sister and I couldn't stop ourselves from calling the thinner "dip". I can't be the only one who had that problem. XD

Overall, I'd recommend Epic Mickey to anyone who loves Disney and/or enjoys a good platformer. I spent extra cash to get the special edition with the "making of" DVD (which was also awesome!) and the figurine and it was worth every penny!

I shall leave you with this incredible video of a performance artist creating some huge Epic Mickey concept art live on Sunset Boulevard!:

*sigh* If I knew the exact address of that painting, I'd totally make the 2 hour drive to Hollywood just to take a picture in front of it! ^_^

I'm sure most of you have seen this already. But I just had to show off this kick-ass, shot-for-shot, fan made remake of the After Today number from A Goofy Movie.
I still can't believe these kids pulled it off with just, 6 months, $100, and Final Cut Pro! I'd love to see what they could do with a Hollywood budget!

My sister and I got our copy of Epic Mickey last night. We made it to the 'It's a Small World' level and that level is one of the creepiest things I have ever seen! Dead animatronic foreign children and demonic robot animals were everywhere! And that music...oh God, that music! O_o

THIS GAME IS F***ING AWESOME!!!!! ^_^

I have a distant relative named Ruth who used to work as an "Ink and Paint Girl" at Disney. Her first professional art job was painting the cels for Snow White! Needless to say, I love talking to her at family reunions and our last conversation went something like this...

-Me: "I take it you didn't save any of those cels?"
-Ruth: "Oh God no! We were so relieved to finally be done with that production that we threw the damn things on the floor and slid around on them!"
-Me: "Bet you regret that now, huh?"
-Ruth: *sigh* "I wish I had known that people would actually be interested in collecting them someday. If I had just saved one I'd be set for life!"
-Me: "If I ever get work at an animation studio, I'm taking everything that isn't nailed down!"
-Ruth: *giggle* "That's right! Learn from my mistake, bubbeleh!"
