I bought the digital rental of the new Scooby Doo: Mask of the Blue Falcon movie because I'm impatient. So I decided to snap some screenshots and give you guys a spoiler-free review (and first look) at the new movie.

If you want to use these screen caps or show them off elsewhere, that's fine. Just do me a favor and remember to credit me for them. :)

In this issue the gang fixes a haunted apartment building, they solve they mystery behind lemonade, and Dynomutt learns the hard way that fanboys can be jerks. And then Yogi Bear gives us a lesson on the animation process.

This comic also features an invitation to the Star Wars fan club! XD

Scans under the cut.... )

As always, I don't mind if people use these scans to make icons or whatever (I can't claim "ownership" of a book with characters that clearly aren't mine just because I scanned it). But credit would be much appreciated if you do opt to use them or show them off elsewhere. Thanks!

Up until now, I've focused on reviewing/re-capping Scooby Doo episodes that I enjoy. However, I’m told that negative reviews are far more fun for others to read. So this time I’m re-capping an episode that sucks from the What’s New Scooby Doo Series: “Camp Comeoniwannascareya”

.....you probably thought I was going to use an episode from the-show-that-shall-not-be-named. However, all my attempts to recap that show ended in a flurry of bra-burning and profanity. So don’t expect me to try that again anytime soon.

Now, let’s begin:

In this episode, Velma gets hired by the Coolsville chapter of NASA to launch a science experiment into space. Naturally, a ghost swoops in to muck it up.

In this issue, the gang wanders into the lair of a psychotic S&M enthusiast, they learn a shocking secret about America's history, and then they rob a bank. And about a dozen people shove guns into their innocent teenage faces! O_o

This episode takes place on an Indian reservation. I think you know what this means: We get to see some awkward, unintentional, 80s-era cartoon racism! HOORAY!!

This is what passed for "Mature Women's Comics" back in the day. I found it in a dollar bin at a con a while back and I just HAD to share it here. The cheese is just glorious!!

The first story centers around a White female social worker who falls madly in love with a hot-tempered Puerto Rican man who lives in the ghetto she works in. He doesn't love her back; so she stalks him like a creeper despite the fact that she already has a loving boyfriend. Apparently, us ladies are supposed to find this romantic.

Jinkies! It's been a while since I did one of these!

As much as I love doing reviews of Pup Named Scooby Doo episodes, I thought it would be fun to do an episode re-cap from a Scooby show that isn’t clouded by my nostalgia goggles. What’s New Scooby Doo is a decent show; but I found it to be VERY hit-and-miss. It got some big things wrong (I’ll get to them later on). But one of the things it did right was making Fred and Velma fun and interesting without flanderizing them too much. And this particular episode was all about Velma and the one bizarre phobia that was strong enough to make her play hooky during a mystery…

The Scooby Doo Drinking Game: Featuring Charlton issues 1-3 (1975)

I wanted to make these old comics available to you guys. But just dumping the scans here seemed too boring, so I decided to make a game of it. Here are the rules:

    1. Even though I’m calling it a “drinking game”, alcohol is not required. I don’t drink, so I’m opting for soda and/or ice cream. Having a fun munchie nearby makes the game more fun, but it’s not required.

    2. Take a drink/bite/whatever every time you spot something that would NEVER fly in a modern children’s comic book (or children’s anything for that matter).
Stuff that is ridiculously dated and/or inappropriate can also warrant drink/bite if you feel that said stuff is extreme enough to deserve it.

    3. Take two drinks whenever a HUGE error makes it past the editors (ie getting a character’s name wrong, drawing them REALLY off model, a hideous typo, etc)

    4. Take a drink for any wildly OOC behavior on the part of our main characters.

HAVE FUN!

You can also just look at the pictures without my dopey commentary. I’d be happy to put these up in zip format on mega upload; but sadly, I don’t know how. If anyone wants to help me with that, that would be great.

On to the game!

I promised scans for this book....

...and now here they are! Enjoy!

This comic is a real treat. It was written AND drawn by people who actually worked on the show. So it looks and feels like watching a "lost episode" in storyboard form. Best $6 I ever spent. ^_^

I can't believe it's taken me this long to get to episode one!
Well, here it is! Hope it was worth the wait:

Because this is the first episode, the characters are slightly different and it has a few elements that got scrapped later on. Despite that, it does a good job of setting up the universe and the characters. And it’s insanely fun and extremely cute, too.
