No. Seriously. THIS IS HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!!! o_0

I’m torn between being THRILLED that a new generation will grow up with Ducktales and TERRIFIED that this new show will be a badly written CGI atrocity.

IMO, Disney would be smart to just use the old theme song as is. That thing is the most notorious earworm EVER and (it’ll stand out among modern cartoons that don’t use epic theme songs anymore).

Also, sad to say, they’ll likely use new VAs for Scrooge and Magica (since Alan Young and June Foray are over 90 years old now). And I’m betting on Greg Ferguson being Young’s replacement (mainly because his Scottish accent is authentic). And I’m betting on Tress MacNeille being the new Magica.

I swear, I heard about this news via people sending me “Are you happy NOW!?" messages on Deviant Art. Apparently, a few people seem to think that I had a hand in this because I wrote some scathing reviews of Sanzaru's sexist revision of the Sly Cooper series. LOL

Seriously though, I am beyond thrilled that Sanzaru's team of perverted man-children wont get another chance to sh!t all over my favorite video game series

In case you haven't heard, a Jem and the Holograms live-action movie is in the works. And the film makers are scouting FANS to work on things like casting and costuming. Naturally, one would assume that this will lead to either total AWESOMENESS, or a complete and utter trainwreck of a film (either way, it'll be entertaining LOL).

That said, the Jem movie will get all of my money and my love if they opt to cast these gals. Even if you're not a Jem fan, just check out their audition music video. It's AMAZING!!!!

Today, I attended a new convention called "Stan Lee's ComiKaze" in Los Angeles. This convention is only two years old and this was my first time there.

While attending ComiKaze, I was hugged by Veronica Taylor, Weird Al Yankovick, Andre of Black Nerd Comedy, and JIM FREAKIN' CUMMINGS!!!!
...yeah. I am DEFINITELY coming back next year!! This convention RULES!! ^_^

And don't worry, photographic evidence of these events will be coming soon.

Please forgive my incompetence at drawing Duck characters. But I just had to express my love for them in art form!

I've beaten this game twice already. I bought a PS3 just so I could play it and it was worth EVERY PENNY!! It's like experiencing a lost episode of the original cartoon!

If you love Ducktales, Disney, old school gaming, and/or beautiful hand-drawn animation, BUY THIS GAME NOW! The sprites are GORGEOUSLY animated and replicate both the look of the cartoon and the feel of the 1989 video game flawlessly. And, for all the people who just want to experience the story without the sadistic old-school NES difficulty, there's an Easy Mode available to play.

And yes, the iconic money bin is a mini-game that you get to swim around in! :)

RANDOM GUSHING!!!

In short, BUY THIS GAME AND BUY IT NOW!!!!
It's hella fun. And if it sells well, maybe we'll get a remake of the equally awesome 1989 Rescue Rangers NES game. And I want this to happen more than you will ever know!! ^_^

So, I FINALLY got my hands on an issue of the old Talespin comic series that I've been trying to find for ages....

....and I've been wanting to find it because this story was written by one of the show writers and it gives us some back story on Kit and Molly that the show never touched on. And, IMO, reading this comic felt like getting the finale episode of Talespin that never happened (and likely never will considering the legal limbo surrounding the Jungle Book characters and the fact that BOOM Comics is no longer allowed to touch the Disney titles).

I think every fan of the series needs to read this. So I scanned it and put it here.

WARNING!
If you love the show (and if you're a big fan of Kit and/or Molly) you might wanna have a tissue or two handy.

On to the scans!

Kickass story under the cut.... )

I hope all the old-school Disney Afternoon fans got a kick out of this. I've been tracking this comic down for AGES and it was worth every bit of effort!
....and, believe it or not, I only paid $1.60 for it! SCORE!!!!

So, they're making a new Scooby Doo direct-to-DVD movie featuring puppets instead of animation or actors. And these puppets are modeled after the Pup Named Scooby Doo designs!!

I'm TRYING to hold in my excitement until some information about the writers and voice actors involved is released. But this trailer looks pretty cool so far! It's a Wal-Mart exclusive DVD and it will be released July 23.

Since Pup is my favorite Scooby incarnation ever, I'll share some of my hopes for this thing here:

So, one of the people I met on Deviant Art REALLY liked this sketch that I drew...

....and asked if she could color it. Naturally, I was insanely flattered that anyone would want to do this with one of my scribbles (especially since this artist is REALLY good at digitally coloring her own stuff). And here's the result:

I REALLY need to learn digital coloring! Because I can't believe something I made can look THIS good!

The colorist's DA handle is "Obligatory Optional" and her page is here. Check it out. She rocks!

It's been a while since I submitted Scooby art here; so I'm posting all my most recent sketches. They're not very polished (I drew most of these on my lunch breaks at work), but I hope you like them anyway.

Hat-tip to my pal [livejournal.com profile] ayarane for bringing this beautiful news to me! I love you, honey!

Here's the trailer. Look upon it and feel the nostalgia overcome you!!!!!

Best of all, according to Capcom's website, EVERY SURVIVING VOICE-ACTOR IS RETURNING!!!

That's right, even Alan Young and June Foray (who are both pushing 100 freakin' years old!!!) are coming back to us! I can honestly say that this news has made my year. Even if the game sucks ass, hearing Young and Foray portray these characters again will be well worth whatever price this game sells for!

One of the few downsides to being Jewish is the lack of cool holiday specials that celebrate our culture and traditions. Off the top of my head, the only movies/TV specials I can think of that center around Jewish holidays are "very special episodes" of goyim shows where the main character(s) entertain a Jewish friend, Yentl (which is depressing and filled with Streisand), Eight Crazy Nights (which is disgusting and sucks ass), and the ONE diamond in the pile of schmutz: THE HEBREW HAMMER!

If you've never seen The Hebrew Hammer, it's basically about a reluctant Jewish superhero who has to save Chanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa when Santa Claus' heir turns out to be a psychotic, racist bastard intent on wiping out all the non-Christian holidays. This trailer pretty much tells you all you need to know about it:

Anyhoo, there's a kickstarter to fund a sequel called "The Hebrew Hammer vs Hitler". I want this sequel to happen. Badly. So I'm spreading the word here. Even if you don't end up donating, all I ask is that you at least check out the existing movie (it's currently on Netflix). It is both an awesome movie and a fun look into wacky Jewish culture.

G-dash-D BLESS!

The Disney Channel is doing a sequel series to the classic TGIF sit-com Boy Meets World starring Corey and Topanga's daughter! The new series will be called 'Girl Meets World' and Ben Savage & Danielle Fishel have already confirmed that they're coming back for the new series.

I'm not sure how to feel about this. On the one hand, my inner nostalgic child is elated to know that I'll get to see Corey and Topanga as a grown up married couple with careers and a family (btw, the fact that those two are now old enough to have a teenage daughter makes me feel EXTREMELY old). I literally grew up with these characters. So getting to see them again as adults just feels right.
And if they ever have a huge reunion episode featuring Mr Feeny, Shawn, Corey's parents & siblings, Jack, Angela, and Minkus; I might just die of nostalgia overload (and I would NOT regret it!!)

On the other hand, The Disney Channel has a reputation for using it's live-action tween sit-coms as a way to promote their revolving door of untalented, cookie-cutter little pop stars. And it would kill me to see the characters of Corey and Topanga reduced to being incubators for the next Hannah Montana.

I'll try to keep an open mind and I'll definitely watch this when it premiers! On the bright side, it was recently confirmed that most of the old writing/creative team from Boy Meets World will be working on the new show. So at least we don't have to worry about this thing being helmed by some executive who doesn't get it.

So, how do my fellow 90s kids feel about this? Are you excited, terrified, or both?

Big Top Scooby Doo's official release date is October 9th. However, Wal-Mart stores currently have it on their shelves for way less than it's suggested retail price. I got it last night (and it only cost me $12).

I already reviewed this movie back when Amazon streamed it. So I'll just say that I HIGHLY recommend getting a copy next time you're near a Wal-Mart. Big Top's quality makes up for the fact that the DVD is pretty weak when it comes to extras....

This will either be really amazing or really horrible depending on how much the writer(s) knows about cons and nerd culture. But I'm gonna opt to be optimistic because the last movie (Big Top Scooby Doo) kicked so much ass!

After yesterday's depressing as hell post, I felt the urge to give you guys something innocent and cute to cleanse the palate (and scrub the brain). ENJOY!

There isn't enough fan art of Daphne and Velma just being gal pals and having fun together. So I'm putting these sketches out there. Enjoy!
