I recently bought some back issues of the old "Disney Afternoon Comic Collection". And these covers absolutely cracked me up:

...and now I cannot stop myself from imagining how much funnier The Little Mermaid would have been if Ariel had obsessed over Darkwing Duck instead of Prince Eric.
I posted these images on Tumblr, and
earthstar_moon decided to play the devil on my shoulder and encourage me to draw this AU crack ship. So the upcoming comic is her fault, not mine! XD
The first page is done in stick figures because I just wanted to get the idea on paper quickly. And also because I MAJORLY suck at drawing cartoon anthropomorphic ducks (seriously, my hat goes off to Carl Barks and Don Rosa)

If you can't tell by my lousy stick figures, Darkwing commissioned that awful statue and is transporting it home via boat. Launchpad thinks it's insulting and "accidentally" shoves it overboard.
And here's where we meet Ariel

And here's where Ariel shows her love for Darkwing:

I decided that, in my version, she would steal her father's trident instead of selling her voice to a witch. Because the idea of her blasting The Liquidator with it was just funny. And my idea is to make Ariel come across as a weirdo stalker-type because it kinda fits her (don't pretend it doesn't! That statue scene in the original movie is kinda creepy when you think about it too hard).
Also, the "alien with a fist-butt" line is a reference to an episode of Darkwing Duck where it was revealed that humans like us come from outer space in the Duck universe. So, in Darkwing's POV (ie a dude who lives among animal-people and has only seen human beings as aliens) would view Ariel as a bizarre alien with a fish-butt.
If there's interest in this story, I will continue it! I have some free time coming next week!

Yes I did! And I plan to do a review (and some fanart) when my Christmas vacation kicks in!
