He he! That's cute. Bubblegum and Marceline I presume?

Also, sent you a message through LJ. Stu and I got brainstorming on better Sly Cooper 4 plot ideas. XD

You guessed right!

I just saw that Sly message you sent. And I'll reply to it here because my LJ inbox has been spazzy lately. :P

First off, keep the time travelling idea but have the villain be someone that knew Sly's mother. This person disapproved of her marrying Sly's dad and has decided that if he/she erase the coopers from existed then Sly's mom would never marry Sly's dad in the first place and she would be alive.

I really like the idea of tying his mother into the story. She never gets any mention in the games; so it would be a fresh new angle to take (instead of re-hashing Clockwerk or having some other crook target Sly because s/he is jealous of the Cooper family's "mad thieving skillz").
And if the antagonist was a member of his mother's family, that would add a neat dramatic angle to it (ie Sly's only living family member trying to wipe him out).

.....or they could go the Severus Snape route and have the antagonist be someone who wanted to hook up with Sly's mom but was cock-blocked by Daddy Cooper and decided to take it out on Sly. XD

Also, Sly is the only person that is able to remember how the original timeline is suppose to be thanks to the abilities he gained from the thievius raccoonus. Also, reason Penelope is with the bad guy is because the bad guy changed the time line so she never met Bently and the others.

Now THIS would be a cool way to turn Penelope into a villain without screwing over her character (or her fans).

This leads to the end of the game and a tie-in to the next - after defeating the main villain, Sly has a chance to kill Clockwerk before his father's death - and goes for it.

This is something I always figured would happen if a forth Sly game was ever made! However, I envisioned it going down like this:
Sly realizes that he has a chance to prevent his parents' murder by warning them about the attack (and maybe helping them fight back against the Fiendish Five). But he also knows that saving his parents means he will erase his entire relationship with Murray and Bentley. And he seriously struggles with what to do. And feels TERRIBLE that he even needs to THINK about saving his parents' lives.

As for your scenario, I think he might opt to save his parents because he figures Murray and Bentley would be better off without him. He might flash back to the days after Bentley's accident, remember how much they both struggled in the immediate aftermath, and decide that the truly loving thing to do would be to keep himself from ever meeting them.
....gosh. Now I just made myself sad. :(

End game, Sly 5 would be about the warped alternate timeline. Maybe Bentley's collecting Clockwerk parts as the leader of this reality's Klaww Gang - and The Murray is the terrifying leader of the Fearsome Five. Penelope as the brains of Carmelita's thieving duo, Sly's father as a crime lord still partnered with Dr. M, and so forth.

THIS. IS. AWESOME!!!!

So would Bentley be Arpeggio or Neyla? LOL
Seriously, I could easily see Bentley and Murray getting wrapped up with the "bad" variety of criminals without Sly and his honor code to temper them. They did show high "asshole potential" in game#1 after all. ~_^

I TOTALLY LOVE the idea of Carmelita and Penelope as a team (especially since Sly 4 screwed us all out of EVER seeing that in canon :().
However, I'm not sure how the altered timeline would result in Carmelita being a criminal instead of a cop. Is she rebelling against AU-Sly's tyrannical running of Interpol? Or did AU-Sly pull a Neyla, frame her for some bullshit crime she never committed, and force her to go underground?

And Sly Cooper himself is not a ruthless inspector of INTERPOL because he decided to rebel against his crime lord father.

This actually makes some sense in canon. It's implied in the third game that Sly's dad might not have been the saint that Sly remembers him to be (Doctor M seems to resent him because he treated his sidekicks like shit). The game never makes it clear if Doctor M was lying or not. But maybe he had good reasons to resent the hell out of Daddy Cooper...

And thus, I think Stu and I created a much better plot for Sly 4. What do you think?

I think this scenario might become fanart someday. And I promise to credit you two if it does. ~_^

Okay, for future Sly ideas should I just send them through DA as a note? I just wasn't sure which you would prefer.

And if the antagonist was a member of his mother's family, that would add a neat dramatic angle to it (ie Sly's only living family member trying to wipe him out).

That's the angle I like most honestly and plus, she/he could even help Sly try to fix the timeline in game 5. (I'm thinking that Sly's dad became a much worse criminal cause somehow Sly's mom still died and thus she wasn't around to knock sense into him.) I just think it would be nice if Sly's mother got attention too.

Is she rebelling against AU-Sly's tyrannical running of Interpol? Or did AU-Sly pull a Neyla, frame her for some bullshit crime she never committed, and force her to go underground?

We're thinking Interpol is A LOT more harsher now thanks to the more harsher criminals that exist. So, Carmelita rebelled cause it's not the kind of justice she was raised to believe in. So, she now tries to fight criminals as a thief.

Stu also came up with that idea that when Sly fights AU Bently and Murry, we realize that if he hits them with his cane their memories from the original timeline come back. Thus Bently explains, it's because the cane is from the original timeline (It's not exact science I know, but the games act like a Saturday morning cartoon.)

This results in Sly glancing at AU Carmelita and asking "I wonder if I hit you then-"

AU Carmelita: "Don't even think about it, Ringtail!" (Although, you could have Sly kissing her and that somehow gets her memories from the original timeline back)

I think this scenario might become fanart someday. And I promise to credit you two if it does. ~_^

Feel free! I want to draw fanart of this myself. XD Heck, if you tell other Sly fans this idea and they want to draw it feel free. This awesomeness needs to be shared.

Just keep replying here. That way, all the comments are in one spot if I need to reference them for fanart or whatever

Believe it or not, that's pretty similar to the caveat in Sly 4 (in that game, they can't travel to a time period unless they have an artifact from that time).
Plus, it's amusing to imagine him LITERALLY whacking sense into people.

I'm glad I have your approval! Because I bet this will be a hit on DA!

More brainstorming, having played more Sly 2 - we're averaging a world every few days at this point. Just finished the Jailbreak bit.

So. AU!Bentley I put in charge of the Klaww Gang. I'm sticking with that, and justifying it as follows: He's in charge because for all of the Contessa's double-dealing and mind-screwing, for all of Rajan's drug operations, for all of Neyla's chronic backstabbing disorder...

The moment any of them even think 'why's the turtle in charge', they remember some of his plans for heists. This is a Bentley who never had Sly to be his moral compass.

I mean, heck. During the jailbreak, we passed Murray's old cell. Why was there a need to have him in Solitary Confinement...aside from having a flimsy justification to have The Murray brutalize fifty fellow prisoners?

Crashing trains through walls, flooding entire valleys, smashing through city streets...that's just the levels we've played so far, and Bentley's already coming across like a crazed supervillain. This without whatever he's got planned for that blimp, which incidentally I'm guessing 'Hindenberg'. And that's the Bentley who has Sly keeping him in line.

So, the AU Bentley? Completely unfettered. I'm willing to bet there are cities the people just gave up and abandoned after heists of his there. Contessa, Neyla, Rajan - they look at this maniac, and they go 'you know what, second best is good. I'm fine with second best.'
