Back when I was a teenager, I had the good fortune to meet some of the writers & artists behind Beauty and the Beast at an ASIFA event. One of them said that they briefly considered ending the movie on a humorous note by having Belle ask the Prince if he could grow a beard. Obviously, they didn't go that route, but part of me kinda wishes that they had. Hence the comic.

Also, the Beast does NOT have an official name ("Prince Adam" is fanon). The writers just never thought to give him one. However, when pressed by the audience, they dubbed him "Moe Beast". So that is what I call him. XD

Also.....I swear to G-d, this is just a parody! I totally think the movie is awesome (and I also think "Prince Moe" is cute). And I also believe that Belle is totally NOT shallow and horrible! So please don't hurt me, Disney fans!!!!!

My favorite Disney animated film of all time. <3

Belle is like my top favorite Disney heroine because she has beauty as well as brains. She saw Gaston for who he really was and saw past the Beast's cruelty. But when you think about it, maybe she also could have changed Gaston's beastly nature if she had tried to...?

OMG, you actually met some the writers and artists behind the movie?! You are so lucky!

I get slightly disgusted when fans actually accuse Belle of bestiality. That's reading way too much into it. =.=

And, doesn't the Beast/prince have a real name in the original stories? I don't recall at the top of my head.

What I don't get is why none of the townsfolk even knew of the castle's existence. Maybe they were also under the spell of the enchantress that their memories got manipulated?

Belle is a perfect example of how to make a character kind and grounded WITHOUT making her a dull Mary Sue. And it's what I point to when people say things like "characters aren't interesting unless they have a zillion flaws or weird personality quirks" (this is something I hear a LOT from people who hate old-school Scooby Doo but LOVE Mystery Incorporated).

This event happened about 10 years ago. But, yeah, it was a pretty lucky break that I heard about it and managed to get in.
I also met the woman who modeled for Tinkerbell there. And even though she was in her 70s, you could still tell she WAS Tinkerbell. ^_^

But when you think about it, maybe she also could have changed Gaston's beastly nature if she had tried to...?

That's an interesting question. Personally, I don't think Belle would have bothered with him. She was nice, but she wasn't aspiring to be a saint who "saves" everyone. She just wanted to be left alone with her books. So I doubt she'd waste her time with an unrepentant douchebag. And, most importantly, Gaston never gave her ANY reason to want to help him be a better person.

As for The Beast...the ONLY reason Belle didn't get the fuck out of that castle after he blew up at her over the rose was because he saved her life when the wolves attacked. If the wolves hadn't come (and The Beast hadn't followed her outside), I'm sure she would have just rode back home to her dad and forgot all about The Beast and his creepy castle.

I always feel bad that I find his human form so UGLY compared to his beast form. Glen Keane did too good of a job designing him! Also, the artists' jokes are always pretty humorous. I ought to scan one included in an Aladdin art book.

He he! This is cute and I would be with Belle, I've always thought the prince could use a beard. He just looks so different from his beast form, it would be nice if there was a bit more similarity between the too.

Anyway, this was cute. ^_^

I remember reading somewhere (I think it was the art book?) that they kinda gave the prince form a really generic design because it would always look ugly compared to the Beast, no matter what they did, because the audience had learned to love the beast form for the past hour and a half.

Still, they could have done a better job then THAT.
