That reminds me, I'll have to do a real review later on. ^_^;
I was pleasantly surprised that they managed to load it with gamer fanservice without making it confusing or alienating for people who haven't touched a controller since Pac-Man. And the story was a lot more touching than I expected it to be. Also, maybe I'm just dense, but the twist with King Candy/Turbo legitimately surprised me (even though it was totally obvious in retrospect).
And the weird romance between Felix & Not-Samus (sorry, I'm blanking on her name LOL) was surprisingly awesome.
The only disappointment is that the licensed game attached to it sucks ass (my sister works at Gamestop, so I checked it out for free). I know licensed games ALWAYS suck. But you'd think Disney would make an exception and put some effort into this one. It wouldn't have killed them to send this project to Square-Enix or Warren Spector, y'know. :p
I agree on all that. The King Candy/Turbo twist was something I had spoiled for me before I went to see it, but the reveal was SO well done that I can see why people wouldn't see it coming even when it was obvious.
Not-Samus' name is Calhoun, BTW. And yes, the romance between her and Felix was AWESOME. An innocent, family frienly Mario-type character hooking up with a violent, grim vigilante shooter game character was just too funny and kinda sweet.
And yes, you'd think a Disney movie that's actually ABOUT VIDEO GAMES would recieve a good video game adaptation, but noooo. Oh well. At least the real Fix-it Felix Jr arcade game that you can play online is fun. XD

Also, it turns out that Ralph is a playable character in the new Sonic the Hedgehog racing game (however, Sega didn't include Vanillope in the roster because they are morons). So that might count as a good licensed tie-in game. :P
Is the Sonic game any good? Given Sonic's reputation, I'm uncertain. And yes, Vanellope should've been there. Heck, I'd rather play a real version of "Sugar Rush."

Date: 2012-12-10 02:04 am (UTC)A real version of Sugar Rush would kick ass. I hope Disney seizes the opportunity and actually makes one sometime soon.
