Everyone has probably seen this video already. But I think it's worth posting anyway because this man has done something miraculous. He has brought the pro and anti Chick-Fil-A folks together to agree on one thing:
THIS GUY IS THE BIGGEST DOUCHE IN THE UNIVERSE!!!!

===

I feel for this guy's family (he has young kids and internet mob justice can be a frightening thing). But I don't feel sorry for him. As someone who has worked many low wage customer service jobs and has dealt with MANY sanctimonious assholes like him, I revel in the fact that he lost his cushy job. Maybe now he'll understand what it's like to not have the luxury of being able to be selective about what companies you choose to work for. He seemed to be under the impression that the teenage drive-thru girl chose that job because she just LOVES oppressing gay people with chicken sandwiches. And he seemed to believe that upsetting a helpless young woman at her workplace (where she is obligated to be nice to him and not fight back!) was a victory for civil rights somehow. F**K this guy!!

What a major douchebag. He's a bigger douchebag than Ryan Lochte and at least Lochte won Gold Medals for the US and this guy just felt some sort of self-righteousness. No, douchebag, you are not a better person for doing this. You could have done the same thing by a letter to the editor.

UGGGG this pisses me off so much.

Before this incident, the douchebag had a cushy job as a CFO at a medical company. Which makes it all the more infuriating that he chose to harass and belittle someone working at a drive thru (and he harassed her on a super busy day, to boot).

This struck a nerve with me because I'm so desperate for extra income right now that I wouldn't say no if a company that went WAY against my values offered me employment. I'm sure that a lot of gay people work at Chick-Fil-A and hate it; but they have no choice because the economy sucks.

I get the feeling that this dude never had to work a customer service grunt job in his life. Maybe that's why he's under the delusion that yelling at a teenager at a drive-thru is "speaking truth to power" somehow.

The party that brought us James O'fucking'Keefe and Kyle fucking Bristow is complaining about abrasiveness (and, really, it's not like this guy was that abrasive at all)? Oh, this is too much.

I'm not a James O'Keefe fangirl and I have no idea who Kyle Bristow is. But nice try at making wild assumptions about someone you don't even know.

So, you think an appropriate way to protest Chick-Fil-A is to make sanctimonious speeches to the minimum wage employees at the bottom of the corporate totem pole? What does that accomplish aside from making some low-wage employee feel bad? Especially since, for all we know, that girl could be a gay person who works there because she was desperate for work and had no other options.

*sigh* You know, I'm rather glad we don't have Chick-Fil-A here in Canada because we're not having to deal with this mess.

That poor girl. I just want to give her a hug.

I can believe that jerk. He doesn't agree with the companies polices and doesn't want to buy food there fine, but don't take it out on the workers. It's not like they have any control over that. This guy was just attempting at an easy/cheap way to make himself feel better. If he wanted to do anything that would ACTUALLY have an effect on the company, he would take the time to write a letter to the company itself, NOT yell at the poor woman who is just trying to make a living.

I get the feeling that guy has never worked a customer service grunt job in his life. I just can't see how anyone who has been there could do something like this.

In a way, he did do something "purposeful". He gave both sides something to come together and agree on (and laugh at).

Wow, that's pathetic. A grown man with children bullying a teenage girl and posting a video of it to show off his toughness to the internet? Yeah, I'm REAL impressed. /sarcasm Dude, look at your life, look at your choices. From now on I hope he's only ever remembered as the asshole who bullied a teenage girl, never allowed to live it down and never remembered for his other accomplishments.

Fucking Liberal douche... (No offense to all Liberals, who can be good or bad just like Conservatives, but this guy just represents the worst type out there.)

Yeah. There are some Conservatives out there who make the whole movement look bad. But luckily, most of them are too old to understand how YouTube works. So they don't do shit like this. LOL

And even if I were a Liberal, I STILL wouldn't get this whole Chick-Fil-A drama. ONE guy (the CEO) said something that he has the constitutional right to say even if it's considered "politically incorrect" these days, and it does NOT reflect on the resteraunts' service (employees may be perfectly tolerant of gay marriage, and gays aren't banned from eating there or anything: they'll still be served just like everyone else.), and yet the liberal folks are all up in arms about it and demanding that Chick-Fil-A be boycotted or shut down, even though that would lose several innocent, hardworking people their jobs? It just...makes my brain hurt SO MUCH.

I don't get it either. My sister freaked out at me because I recently applied for an open job there. But I don't see why the CEO supposedly being a jerk means the company is evil.

And even if the company WAS evil, that doesn't make it OK to harass the workers sitting at the bottom of the totem pole.

From what I heard, the CEO's not even a jerk. He's just honestly expressing the values he was raised on. He doesn't believe in gay marriage, and he had the constitutional right to say that he didn't. If he let his beliefs get in the way of the resetraunts' business, THEN it would've been wrong, but no. He just said something that liberal-type people call politically incorrect, and so there was an uproar.

I heard from my aunt that the Chick-Fil-A company is owned by or in business with an evil company or something, but most workers employed at Chick-Fil-A have nothing to do with that. They're just doing their jobs, earning their pay, and making a living.

From: [identity profile] brendala.livejournal.com
Yeah. All evidence points to the CEO being a decent guy who just happens to disapprove of gay marriage. But even if he is a homophobic jerk, that's his right (provided he doesn't let it effect how the company operates).

Besides, if every company that had an asshole in charge was forced to shut down, there wouldn't be very many left. LOL

EXACTLY. I doubt him or any high-up like him are doing serious damage by just saying things. If you consider what they say wrong and stupid, that's fine. But one should never try to silence them. That goes against the freaking first ammendment, right?

And yes, that too. XD
