FAN-ART: Scooby Doo: The JRPG!!

Got this idea during a fit of boredom and couldn't let it go.
I'm honestly surprised no Japanese company ever approached WB to make an anime or RPG based on Scooby Doo. If nothing else, it would be interesting to see this franchise through the eyes of insane Japanese game developers.
============

--Velma's outfit is a shameless rip-off of Alice Elliot's costume from the game 'Shadow Hearts' (which is AMAZING and my favorite RPG, by the way!).
I see her as the group Black Mage and someone who studies at some sort of magic academy (hence the stuffy outfit). And, when magic is unavailable, she beats the snot out of monsters with her massive books (Fun Fact: this is another trait stolen from Alice Elliot AND Velma's main attack in a recent series of Wii games).
--And Fred's armor is a shameless rip-off of Gourry Gabriev's. I know his costume looks a bit cluttered and stupid. Maybe I'll re-draw it someday when I suck less at drawing armor
--Shaggy would totally be a Tamer/Beast Master/Thief in a JRPG setting.
And I think it would be cool if Scooby fought with the aid of special weaponized helmets (so he wouldn't have to get up close and bite every foe). It would be kinda fun to see a more aggressive, dog-like version of Scooby (that DOESN'T threaten helpless women) like in the 70s comics.
--Daphne would totally be the typical JRPG Elf/Princess/Healer/Obligatory Love Interest.
As for what kind of story would go down in this type of AU....I'll let you guys speculate. It's more fun that way.

Oh don't worry. My Daphne would have the "snarky, take no bullshit" personality from the Pup series! ~_^

Date: 2012-06-29 08:45 am (UTC)Not necessarily. A few JRPGs have bucked the generic anime look in favor of something more unique and/or westernized (**see spiffy Shadow Hearts icon**).
.....oh, and I suck at drawing anime style. So I wasn't gonna try. LOL
I don't hate Scrappy as much as a lot of fans do (I'm just indifferent to the little runt). I think he'd be a wacky shopkeeper or something since he's not physically suited for a fight (as much as he'd like to think otherwise).
Basically, Scrappy would be that one weird dude who inexplicably shows up in dungeons to sell your party healing potions and help you save your game before you fight the bosses. LOL
