I just randomly felt like doodling scenes from the cutest piece of Scooby animation ever made (a.k.a. the antidote to the-show-that-shall-not-be-named). Enjoy!
I decided to have a little fun and draw the scenes with the characters as grown ups.

Fun fact: I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this scene...

...was the first time that two members of the Scooby gang said "I love you" to each other. Which makes it even more depressing/infuriating that the recent abomination had a scene where Scooby threatens Velma with violence just because she pissed him off. :(
Anyhoo, back to the happy stuff!

I still can't believe that Stupid-Fred carried over from A Pup Named Scooby Doo (to the point where Fred being a doofus is essentially the new canon) but Snarky-Daphne didn't. Snarky-Daphne was WAY more entertaining than any other incarnation and I think it was the most successful attempt at giving her a personality deeper than "Team Hottie". And Snarky-Daphne and Stupid-Fred have way more chemistry as a pair.

I always wondered why kid!Fred was so different from adult!Fred (as in, the adult!Fred from the original animated series.)

In Mystery Incorporated, there's a running plot line where Scooby and Velma hate each other's guts because they both want Shaggy and are too selfish to share him. In the above scene, Velma was crying because Shaggy had been kidnapped by the monster of the day and she was cuddling a toy parrot that Shaggy had been using as a costume prop to make herself feel better. Scooby was angry when he saw her holding Shaggy's property; so he growled at her and ripped it out of her hands WITH HIS TEETH and then snarled at her when she tried to talk to him.
This scene is one of the main reasons I hate this show so much. It took a lovable character (who is also a beloved American icon) and had him attack a helpless, tiny, crying woman. MI-Scooby is basically Chris Brown in a dog suit. >_<

Pup changed everyone's personality (except Shaggy and Scooby). A lot of purists hate it; but I think it was very successful at giving Velma, Daphne, and Fred dynamic personalities without making them too unrecognizable. Plus, the changes succeeded in making them cute and funny (which was the entire point of the show).

Date: 2012-06-19 05:32 pm (UTC)The-show-that-shall-not-be-named doesn't understand that it's hard to see Scooby Doo as a fuzzy and lovable gentle giant when he's inclined to attack helpless, distressed girls (even his own friends) for no reason.
