Definitely a unicorn! Magic is a convenient way to get around the lack of fingers.


Day 30 - Thoughts of the show in general?


-I love the way the show is girl-focused without feeling like it's pandering.

-It does a good job portraying how a clique of girlfriends operates. Some girls are closer than others. Some of them had to learn to tolerate each other before they became real friends. You got to see them develop relationships with each other instead of becoming BFFs overnight just because they had one crazy adventure together.

-I like how, for the most part, the morals are delivered without feeling heavy-handed. And the show manages to be smart without resorting to too many "you'll get it when you're older" jokes directed at the adults.

-And I love how all the girls have diverse personalities and the show never makes any of them out to be "right" or "wrong". Most girl shows make the mistake of either glamorizing the girly girl and maligning the tomboy or vice-versa. This show just showcases all of them and lets you pick your favorite.

Yeah, it definitely has the whole "girls can be different" and "friendship" aspects down. I find for the most parts, the morals are subtle (despite the dear celestia recap), but in season 2, a couple of morals have felt more heavy handed.
