Most of my friends probably know about this already. But for the few who haven't heard, a new My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic community has opened up! It's called  [livejournal.com profile] thesugarcube !

I know, I know. Why should you care about this one when there are thousands of others already dedicated to this show? Well, this one is different because it's dedicated to giving level-headed, casual fans a place to talk about the show without encountering the ridiculous "social justice wank" that has infected a lot of other MLP comms lately. In this comm, you can talk about the show and share art without running into nonsense like this. Or this. Or this.

Even if you're just curious about the show and not a fan (yet? ~_^), it's a good place to dip your toe into the fandom and meet fans who wont scare you away from ever watching it again.

It's just nice to have a safe place where you can express your opinions/make jokes and be branded as evil for doing so.

Yes. And best of all, now we can destroy Chinese culture and roll back the women's rights movement without any fear of reprisal! BWA HA HA HA!

I clicked through to see what sorts of comments were being left ... and those folks are nuts!

I know, right!

It makes you wonder how they react when they encounter REAL misogyny!

SJ wank has destroyed fandom... It's one of the reasons I left.

Ten years ago, fandom was fun. now? It's a haunt for self-righteous, screeching leftist femnazis.

While I'm not involved in MLP, I'm at least glad that there's a strife-free comm for people who are.

I think it depends on the fandom. Most older and less popular shows don't have quite as much wank in the fandom circles.

The weird thing is how the genuinely good shows (like Avatar and MLP) have amassed the most insane groups of fans

I noticed that stealth MLP comm since I regularly look to see which comms with My Little Pony as an interest have posted recently. 8^) Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the most active of them all?

The social justice wank (thank you for increasing my vocabulary!) is particularly prevalent on LJ. It is why I rarely post in EquestriaMLP anymore, posting instead in a community that wankers wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole, and in my community on DreamWidth which I watch carefully and encourage potential wankers to be civil and excellent to one another. Dreamwidth is a sleepy little hamlet and for the past six months I've been pretty much the only game in town when it comes to MLP, any MLP. *jazz hands*

I caved and read the commentary in the links you gave. OMG the wank, it burns! Such narrow minded, blinkered, knee-jerk preconceptions, served on a wiser-than-thou platter. Wow.

By the way, your comics were funny and I consider gold digging to have a heavy social status element. Rarity was not after some generic True Love, she was after the Prince, who didn't even have a name at that point, just a title. I like Rarity a lot, and as you said, her flaws and how she overcomes them makes her a rich and endearing personality. Applejack, on the other hand, needs character development.
