Some people have a strange definition of the word "Misogynist". I recently found out that it means "any criticism of a female character even if said criticism is just a mild parody and not meant to be taken seriously". I'm not kidding! I posted this comic mocking a My Little Pony episode and it started an amusing wank storm! Check it out here!

I know this statement sounds really hypocritical coming from someone like me (i.e. a girl who never misses an opportunity to rage against the-show-that-shall-not-be-named). But I'm gonna share it with y'all anyway. Because everyone loves watching a train wreck. XD

*head desk* Yeah, unfortunately, there are people in the pony fandom that takes things WAY too seriously. PONIES ARE SERIOUS BUSINESS!! @_@

You should have seen what happened when I made a post about 2012 being the Year of the Spike
http://equestriamlp.livejournal.com/261835.html#comments

I had thought about replying and argue back but Stu said "Don't, it's the internet. Five other people will do it for you." And he was right.

With that said, I know I already told you, but I thought your comic was funny. ^_~

Wow. I never realized that your love for Spike was just a clever mask to conceal your hatred of Chinese people and their culture. Well played, my friend.

Y'know what's funny? I was more worried about Fluttershy's fans being offended than Rarity's fans (on account of the "I'll send Applebloom flowers at her foster home" joke). I guess you never can tell what will set people off.

I know right! I clearly must have done it on a subconscious level. -_- I can't help but feel that I won the argument when the hub made the announcement of having a Spike marathon for Chinese New Year. XD I couldn't help but grin over that a bit.

It's funny, eh? It just proves you can never tell what will set people off. Maybe at some point we should consider doing a small private community for My Little Pony for just our close friends. We're more likely not to get insane fans that way. XP

Maybe The Hub stole the idea from you.

Ponies are REALLY SERIOUS BUSINESS for so many people, i,m just amazed. It's why I stayed away from the fanarting, event hough I want to draw ponies.

Hahaha, go stu.

It boggles my mind that so many people are treating the new My Little Pony show like a political movement! From a feminist perspective, it's an amazing achievement. But, at the end of the day, it's still just a kiddie show about technicolor ponies. People need to chill.

Awww, I hope you don't let the insanity of the fandom keep you from making pony fanart if you really want to. You could always just limit your pony drawings to your personal LJ where the crazies are less likely to see them (I think I might do that from now on!).

...I didn't find it offensive. :? And if someone wants to marry someone JUST because they're rich and famous, I don't think that a gold-digger jab is out of order anyway. ^^;

Your comic was funny... I wish people wouldn't take OBVIOUS PARODIES so seriously- it makes hard work for humorists.

Yeah. I know humor is subjective, but still....

It's not that I can't take criticism. Something similar to this happened in another comm a few months back. And I managed to have a civil discussion with the person who felt offended by my work because she calmly explained her reasoning. I just can't take someone seriously when they turn on the capslock and hurl personal insults at people (especially when those insults are about dopey fan-comics).

...wow, sheesh. Seems there are a lot of women on the internet wanting to pick a fight, and it's one I'd rather have nothing to do with! I guess they just can't appreciate your sense of humor, which frankly, I thought was accurate. I can't say I like Rarity much (I don't really devote time to the show, so I don't really care a great deal about the characters at all), but even so she was being very shallow and silly wanting to wed a guy she hadn't even met.

I think I'll keep giving my "Brony" friends (who are male) weird looks when they gush about the show. That's as close to the fandom I ever care to get.

It's sad how the "Brony" movement is becoming a lot like the A:TLA fandom (i.e. so insane and obsessive that it scares people away from a genuinely fantastic show). If I didn't already love the show and/or have friends who are fans; I'd probably avoid it like the plague!
