It's been WAY too long since I sat down and spent over an hour on a comic. It felt SOOOO good to kick back and do it again today! I don't even care that the end result isn't very polished. XD

This was originally written as a general-universe comic (i.e. not tied into any specific Scooby canon). But it can also be seen as an alternate version of Mystery Incorporated's 4th episode (the one where Velma nags Shaggy to change his eating habits and eat healthier food). Since I rip on Mystery Incorporated a lot for f**king up that relationship; I think it's only fair that I offer up solutions instead of just sitting at my desk yelling at the internet. ~_^

Anyhoo, I think Velma would have come off as a lot more reasonable and sympathetic if that conflict had played out more like this:

-----

So, what do you guys think? Would the episode be better if it played out this way? I think so. But I'm kinda biased. LOL

Shaggy, i'm disapointed. You should be more prepared then this. You should have one of those seductive breath sprays all the Casanovas use. Seriously. :P

Somehow, I also see Velma lecturing him on proper dental hygiene.

.....and I just now realized that I forgot to ink Shaggy's stubble on the last panel. D'oh! >_<

That's what I get for cranking this out in an hour and scanning/uploading it in a rush.

Shaggy, Shaggy, Shaggy. This is why they invented breath mints. XD

(Hope you don't mind a driveby, I found you via the dinkley_rogers comm.)

Oh, I don't mind the drive-by at all (and I appreciate you letting me know where you found me LOL)

Oh, BTW, your icon is cute! Did you make it yourself?

Yay. :D

I did. ♥ I also purposely kept Scooby in the picture as a "nyeh!" to the Mystery Inc writers. And I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks he ships it...or at least wouldn't go RAWR about it like in MI.

After all, just about everyone on LJ makes friends via the fan communities, don't they?

My first and favorite Scooby series is Pup. So I've always felt that Scooby would totally ship Shaggy/Velma. If for no other reason than it would allow him to see Velma more often.

The thing about MI that bugged me the most was how violent Scooby was toward Velma (i.e. lunging and growling at her in that one episode!). Having him be upset that Velma is stealing Shaggy's attention is understandable I suppose; but violence toward a woman!? For a reason that petty and stupid? Hell no!

Is that an invitation to friend you? *hopeful*

I haven't seen Pup in ages, but I remember watching it almost religiously at one point in the early 2000s when they had reruns on Cartoon Network. I so wanna watch it again. ♥

If for no other reason than it would allow him to see Velma more often.

YES. XD

@_@ That's creepy. I haven't seen the series past ep 1 but I've been reading spoilers and reviews and... *shakes head* Scooby and Velma were epically ruined, when I think back to how awesome they were in the classic series and even the earlier reboots and movies...why? Why did the writers think this was a good idea?

**shameless plug time**
I actually did a review a while back that compares the Pup versions of Scooby and Velma to the Mystery Incorporated versions. I think you'll get a kick out of it...

I'm interested if you are. I peeked at your LJ and it turns out we share a couple of the same fandoms. Plus you seem cool in all the comm discussions.

Fair warning, though. I'm a bit of an odd duck. I hope far-right Republicans who spend their free time cosplaying and drawing dopey anime/cartoon fanart don't weird ya out. ~_^

♥ *goes to check it out*

Yay! :D

(I'm...pretty liberal, I hope that doesn't weird YOU out. XD; Then again, I've learned to be quiet about politics online, things get vicious too easily.

But the cosplay and cartoon/anime fanart? I don't find that the least bit weird!)

Glad you liked it! I think it's one of my best reviews (and it was a blast to write, too).

I live in California. If liberals weirded me out, I'd be very VERY lonely. XD
Don't worry, I rarely discuss politics on LJ because I prefer to keep it as a silly escape from stressful stuff that can lead to vicious arguments.

:D

Phew! XD; I worried a bit because I've been told I can be really rabid in my liberalism...at least one person thought so.

Ditto. I mean, I do discuss serious stuff on LJ but politics proved to be too messy. I'll keep those for Plurk or Twitter if they ever come up.
