I have Photoshop on my old PC and I've been trying to combine two comic pages into one. Problem is, I can't figure out how to mash two different jpeg files together in Photoshop. I know it's possible (I took a Photoshop class ages ago), but I can't for the life of me remember how and the "help" function in that program is worthless. I tried figuring it out on my own but got frustrated and gave up after 20 minutes of fumbling with all the menus.

So, if any of you can tell me how it's done or link me to a good tutorial resource, I would appreciate it a whole lot!

First, open a new file. Make sure this file is big enough to host both images (Unless they are on top of each other?). If you need to know the side of the images, right-click on the image and select the option "image size". Then, Do a "select" "all" on both images and copy -paste them in the new file. They should now all be on their own layer. Open the layer menu and use the mouse to drag the comics around until they are place to your satisfaction. Save as a jpeg.

Are you wanting them to be side by side? (Like they're two halves to a whole page/spread?)

The way I usually do it is to create a new file that is either transparent or has a neutral background. Make sure it is large enough to house both of the images you want to combine. Then, "Select All" on the images you want to combine, "Copy", then "Paste" them onto the new file.

Photoshop ought to automatically put each image on a separate layer, so be sure you have your layers window open. From there you can use the arrow/move icon to reposition them how you want, then if you have excess, crop the entire file down to what you want, "Flatten the Image", then save it. Ta-da! :)

When I tried copy/pasting and dragging/dropping, it automatically moved each picture into it's own new Photoshop document and not separate layers on the same document (so I couldn't combine them). I honestly have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Something this basic shouldn't be so hard to figure out. :P

If it helps, what I want to do is place one drawing below the other. So that, instead of being a two page comic, it's a one page comic.

That's really odd. Which version of Photoshop are you using? If it's really throwing a fit, you might have to do everything by going through the menu instead of using keyboard shortcuts. (Assuming you weren't already.)

If you go under the Select menu, you should be given the choice to "Select All", then go to the Edit menu to "Copy". Make sure you have the file you want to add the image to open and that the program recognizes that's what you have selected as your main file. Gah, I can't think of a shorter way to put it. Make sure it's the highlighted document, or something... Go back into the Edit menu and select "Paste."

If Photoshop wants to behave itself, it should paste the file into the new file. If not, you have my permission to chuck it out the window. I honestly have no idea why it is misbehaving like that...but then I don't really have PC/Photoshop experience anyway.

OK. I got it working! Thanks for your help, Diane!

I think the version I have is a bit out of date (it's on the old PC that I gave to my Mom when I moved away). But at least I can do this now!

Glad I could help! And I'm glad you didn't have to get violent with the program for it to behave. ;)

Me, too! And, if you'd like to see the comic in question, I just posted it. ~_^
