Remember a few weeks back when I vented my frustration about Kingdom Hearts and how it's gotten progressively more ridiculous with each additional sequel/prequel/midquel/etc.? Remember how I rolled my eyes at the latest KH game and it's absurd title (Birth By Sleep)?

Well, as much as it pains me, I have to give Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep some props. Not only did it have a Scrooge McDuck cameo, they actually brought in Alan Young to record some lines this time. HORRAY!

However, I call bullcrap on Scrooge needing a pre-pubescent pretty boy to save his tail feathers from a monster! Scrooge McDuck is a badass who got rich by going on suicide missions all over the world (and on the freakin' moon, too!). He could kill that heartless in his sleep and I'm not the only fangirl who wanted to see him do that, Square-Enix!

I TOLD you Alan Young freaking still had it. He may not have been the original Scrooge voice (I believe he took the reins in Mickey's Christmas Carol), but goddamn he will always be the best one. >:D JP!Scrooge gets an honorable mention... it's trippy in that it's pretty freaking close to what Mr. Young would sound like if he spoke Japanese. Concurrently, now I want to watch their dub of DuckTales...

Also OMFG THAT >:] face Scrooge makes behind the hat. Holy freaking crap. I don't even... XD

Oh yeah, boo on him being a non-combat NPC. Really? REALLY? If anything, Scrooge probably taught Donald how to be a Black Mage, or at least cane-fu like one. :P (Black Mage Scrooge.... waaaaaaant...)

The original Scrooge was the guy who voiced Smee in Peter Pan. Watching those old Scrooge cartoons makes me wince a bit because the original VA's Scottish accent sounds HORRIBLE when you're used to hearing Alan Young.

That face was adorable! It makes me think that Scrooge faked being helpless just to screw with the kid. ~_^

EDIT: If Scrooge was a combat character, his main weapon would be the cane and his special attack/limit break would be the shotgun. XD

....come to think of it... I don't think I've actually seen anything Scrooge was in prior to MCC. I think I'll go on pretending they either never happened or are lost somewhere in Disney's vault. Hurr durr >_>;

SHOTGUN. Yes. I forgot about that. It'd have to shoot a bunch of random high-level spells before its ultimate payload... and appropriate recoil to boot. XD

Hopefully Epic Mickey does well enough that whats-his-face will get the green light to do that Scrooge game he was fantasizing about. >:D That would still be very much an INSTANT WANT, right there. Cane-fu and shotgun? Yes please!

Scrooge was in a special forever ago on budgeting money, educating his nephews on the do's and don'ts. Back in the day when Walt Disney studios made entertaining educational shorts.

...semi-tangentially-related:

I appear to have struck gold. o_o

Dude's got both MCC and the DuckTales movie, among other things. Time to loot and stitch 'em back together. Bonus points: I MAY be able to fuse the JP audio into the originals and make dual-audio versions. >:D

(I know 99% of this will sail overhead like Jellyfish Gourry... please indulge my video tech babble >_>;)

I was able to extract the HD video from the Google/YouTube backend and stitch it all back together. That's right, HD. I don't know if it's Google's onsite converters that are doing it or what... though if it turns out that Disney gave Japan an HD remaster of the movie (yet couldn't be arsed to give us the movie in a way that isn't a total nightmare to obtain), one can only imagine the nerd rage that will ensue, and not just from me. >:[

Anywho, it'll take a bit to render and export this out into something usable... surely you remember the tech shenanigans in Animation at Chaffey. :P (Though, Blastoise is much more powerful than their old fleet of G5 Macs, so he'll probably finish within the hour.

I will, of course, put the finished extract on Yggdrasil so you can loot it. It'll be bigger than the English original since mine will be HD, but it shouldn't be by that much. :D

Alan Young = Awesome. You're write, he still has it. <3

Scenario = *forehead slap*

Yeah, I agree with the bullcrap. Scrooge doesn't need saving from anyone, especially from a pretty boy.

The only problem with this is that the voice actor for the kid, compared to Alan Young voicing Scrooge, sounds TERRIBLE. I almost found it grating listening to the kid in English after listening to Scrooge. Cut him out, and you have Alan Young continuing to act the part of Scrooge McDuck far too well!

If anything, Alan Young aging just makes his voicing of Scrooge sound even better. ^_-

I agree, if anything Scrooge McDuck should be the unequaled BAMF of the Disney/KH universe. Though I doubt the game designers actually did any depth of research on the character.
