Check out this fan-made trailer for a live-action Pokemon movie. Considering this was made by a bunch of fans for kicks, it's surprisingly well-made (especially the CGI Pokemon):
You just know those kids who got into Pokémon back in the day had to grow up sometime. ^_-
This is something that some of the games have touched on lightly (Pokémon being used to fight much like cock fighting, or dog fighting in our world), but sometimes I wish they'd go into it more. It is a very real issue, and I for one wouldn't mind letting kids know that, yes, there are horrible people out there who care nothing for your fluffy little pet beyond it earning them quick cash in the ring. If it takes Pokémon being used and abused for a kid to understand why it's wrong to put their pet through similar situations, so be it.
On a purely gamer note, this trailer reminded me of the Gamecube Pokémon games - especially Pokémon XD. That was one incredibly dark, what with an underground organization capturing and subjecting Pokémon to something that robbed them of any sort of compassion. Turned them into fighting machines... In playing the games I got really adamant about finding these Pokémon and rescuing them so I could help them become normal again. ...and the application to our world is just as sad, what with illegal dog fights and whatnot.
The CGI in this was surprisingly good. Pikachu looks like he was severely underweight though, poor thing. ;_;
