For the first time, I'm sad that I don't have a PS3...

Turns out the Sly Cooper series is getting a mega re-release on the PS3 with spiffy, remastered graphics for Sly Cooper 3. SQUEE!!

This is one of my favorite video game series (it ties with Shadow Hearts). I HIGHLY recommend getting this collection if you have a PS3 or buying the old Sly games (they're cheap "greatest hits" titles now) if you have a PS2. The first game is just okay (it feels like playing Crash Bandicoot). But the second and third games are incredible. The gameplay is perfect, the characters are fun, and the stories are fabulous. It's like playing through a Disney Afternoon era adventure cartoon. There is nothing else like it out there.

Go get them now!

I've seen this game and I've been wanting to try it for awhile (I like thief characters for some reason) but I could never find the first one.

I wish I had a PS3 so I could try this. In your opinion, do you need to play the first game to understand the second? Cause I see the second and third game on sale cheap ALL the time. I just could never find the first one.

Thankfully, the first game isn't necessary. The second game begins with a cinematic that summarizes what happened in the previous game, so you wont be lost if you start with Sly 2. And, if you're dying to see the actual cinematics for the first game (the ending is adorable), there's always YouTube! ~_^
Also, the second and third games are much better gameplay wise because they're free roaming and Sly starts with all the abilities he acquired in the first game (YAY continuity).

You should totally get Sly 2 next time you see it on sale. I promise you won't regret it! As far as thief characters go, Sly is just awesome. And the story in Sly 2 is top notch. It's like watching the best Lupin adventures only with raccoons and turtles. :)
