A friend and I decided to go to the movies and see 9 yesterday morning. Just as the movie was starting, an alarm and a bunch of flashing lights went of and a voice on the speakers said, "EVACUATE THE BUILDING IMMEDIATELY" over and over. I got a little scared once I remembered what the date was (the theater is in a big, popular mall that would make a good potential target). But, thankfully, once we got to the lobby, it became clear that it was probably a false alarm. I guess some stupid kid pulled the fire alarm or used the emergency exit by mistake or something.

Unfortunately, the theater was unable to provide us with refunds or even free passes for next time! So both me and my date spent $9 on a movie we didn't even get to see. We were pretty pissed about not being able to get refunds or free passes; but I suppose we should just be grateful that nothing bad happened.

Anyway, I've learned my lesson. No more going out on September 11th unless its for a necessary reason like work. Its just not worth the risk.

9$ to see 9? XD

You'd be a t risk any day of the year. 9/11 is just symbolic, so more crazies might try it / people are more paranoid.

LOL. Believe it or not, I didn't notice that until you pointed it out! XD

Yeah, I know going out any day could be risky. The symbolism of 9/11 just makes pranks and attacks more likely.
And I really hope that the alarm was triggered by some absent-minded person accidentally using an emergency exit door. Because it makes me angry to think someone would be insensitive enough to pull a stunt like that on 9/11 of all days.

No refund? That's awful! When I saw Wall*E last year something happened to the film and we sat in darkness for ten minutes before they fixed it, so we got to see most of the movie (minus the scene when Wall*E finds the plant, which was vital to the later plot) and they gave us free vouchers for whatever movie we pleased. I just used it this past summer to see Up. But still, is this just an indicator on how much California's hurting? To not offer some incentive for not seeing a movie is the best way to lose customers...

And I'd not be surprised if someone played a prank. Some people (especially the stupid teen variety) just don't understand the implications of their actions and do whatever they please just for kicks.

(I have that song track from Slayers Next you're looking for. If you want it from me before you can borrow the CD from your friend, I can e-mail you the mp3.)

I'm hoping I can get a refund or a coupon if I go back to the theater with my receipt. Unfortunately, my friend tossed his receipt, so there's nothing he can do.

Thanks for the MP3 offer! But my friend just sent it to me. :)
