Game review: the Sly Cooper Series

brendalaI recently dug out and replayed Sly Cooper 2 and Sly Cooper 3: Honor Among Thieves for the Playstation 2. This series is, hands down, just the best! It's a breath of fresh air considering that most modern JRPGs are derivative as hell and most American games released today star an angsty muscle-man "hero" who runs around butchering people/aliens/whatever in increasingly gruesome ways.
For those who've never played, Sly Cooper is like a mix of Ocean's 11 and the best Disney Afternoon shows. The games all have stories that are deep, yet clean enough that you could play it and let a 5-year-old watch. The first game plays like Crash Bandicoot. But the second and third games have absolutely addicting gameplay. And the artstyle is beautiful. The cartoony graphics and character designs really make it stand out.
Best of all, all three games in the series are "Greatest Hits" titles, so you can get them super cheap on Amazon or at Gamestop. I HIGHLY reccomend picking them up (you can skip the first game, though) if you love video games and you need a fix.
Oh, another reason to get this game is the characters. Sly and Carmelita's romantic twist on the Lupin-Zenigata relationship is so fun to watch.
