My paternal Grandparents
I thought about skipping this one because shipping real people seems creepy to me (especially when it's someone I don't know like a celebrity). But it turns out I actually do know a couple that's interesting enough to warrant a write up: My paternal Grandparents!
Wonder Woman was real. And she liked fur coats.
The story of how they got together is hilarious. She wanted to be a nun and he talked her out of it by reminding her that she can’t have kids of her own if she joins a convent and takes a vow of celibacy (Grandma loved children and was active in children’s’ charities her whole life).
Part of the reason Grandma had trouble finding a husband was because she was gorgeous and built like an Amazon (she was over six feet tall when she passed away at age 75!!) and men were intimidated by her. I guess few men in the 1930s were interested in marrying a woman who towered over them and looked like she could kick their asses. :P
Sadly, my Grandmother passed away back in 2005. But, before she died, she got to live her old dream and worked with the local Catholic Diocese on many charity projects (she also served as the president of the Women’s Catholic Group for her county). She spent so much time with the sisters that she pretty much became a de facto member of the convent. And when she died, they named a new Catholic charity after her. Because, believe it or not, nuns know a badass when they see one.
