The Pairing with the most baggage:
Bruce Wayne and Andrea Beaumont: Batman - Mask of the Phantasm

Phantasm is, in my opinion, the best Batman movie ever made. It has everything: romance, drama, kick ass action, suspense, a great mystery, and Kevin Conroy & Mark Hamill.

The ending always chokes me up. Andrea and Bruce could have had a happy life together. Bruce desperately wanted an excuse to give up being Batman and start a normal, happy family like he had before his parents died (the scene where he's at his parents' grave begging for a sign that it's OK for him to give up Batman for Andrea is extremely powerful). But it all fell apart simply because they couldn’t agree on the correct way to channel their grief and anger. I’d go on, but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet. Even if you're not a Batman fan, please check it out if you haven't seen it. You wont be disappointed (but you might cry for a while).

I haven't seen it, but I do tend to ship Bruce/Selina (even though we know it would never happen on a permanent basis). ^_~ I'll probably watch it some day. Must see if the Brit has seen it.

This was one of my favs as well. (Though Under the Red Hood is a close contender.) If you want a neat little cameo Andrea does appear at one point in the first season finale of Justice League Unlimited called "Epilogue" I believe. It was a nice treat. ^_^

I haven't seen Under the Red Hood yet (but I'm looking forward to it)

The Andrea cameo in Epilogue was cool. Too bad Epilogue was a god-awful episode that nearly ruined Batman Beyond for me.
**grumble grumble**

I think you'll dig it when you get a chance to give it a watch. The only let-down is that they didn't have Hamill voice The Joker.

They produced Epilogue thinking it was going to be the last episode of JLU then Warner Brothers told them to make another season. I thought it was pretty okay and the genetic twist wasn't too, too out there. Though what really bothered me was that Terry ended up with Dana instead of Max. (I'm not normally into character shipping.) But there was a point in Batman Beyond where Terry's life was about to check out and clips of Max flashed on the screen. So I thought that was kind of a neat facet that wasn't explored in the show. (Sorry I'm a writing/plot geek. ^_^*)

P.S. I just realized that our icons are the same, rad. (except yours is more animated... and blue. *laughs*)

Sorry dude, but I hate hate HATE Epilogue. I think it cheapened Terry and Amanda's characters. And the explanation of how Warren McGuiness' *ahem* "little swimmers" were replaced with Bruce's was ridiculous even by the crazy psudo-science standards of JLU.

And Amanda Waller's plan was just stupid. The idea that any kid with half of Bruce's DNA could become a superhero is preposterous. Genetically, Bruce is nothing special (his parents were pampered millionaires) and he became Batman by sheer willpower and desire. And even if Bruce's DNA was special, why didn't Waller just make a clone instead of going through this elaborate plan to recreate Bruce's tragic childhood with the McGuiness family? And what made Waller think she could just snatch Terry after killing off his mom and dad? How would she get custody of little orphan Terry? Was she also planning to kill off all of the McGuiness' friends and relatives to ensure Terry ended up a ward of the state? And what if Terry had been born with down syndrome or something? Would she have waited for the McGuinesses to have another baby and THEN killed off the family (along with the "defective" kid)?

*takes a breath* Sorry if I come across as pissy here; but this episode still ticks me off. I could go on about why all day, but I'll stop here before I blow a gasket. -_-

Whoa! That is neat! ^_^

Check it out. Even if you're not crazy about Bruce and Andrea as a couple, it's interesting to see Bruce struggle with his desire to avenge his parents by being Batman vs his desire to just be happy and have a normal life again.

And it's a great tear-jerker/snuggle flick. Perfect for movie night with a certain someone. ~_^

You got to admit though it was kind of funny seeming the bitey nanobots rewrite Warren's DNA. (I was kind of surprised that got aired, but then they later they edited out the line "Look at the loser!" from the second arena episode.)

You know, I'll admit I was so swept up by the notion of "Yay, Batman didn't die alone and without a genetic heir." that I didn't stop to really think about the holes in Amanda's plan. Though tech wise it's not to far out there (In context of the show.) given how things went down in Return of the Joker. (I'm not sure if you've seen it so I don't want to say too much. ^_^) It's fairly easy to tell that the episode was just shoe horned in to tie up the JLU series and give Batman Beyond an actual ending in the process. (Though I thought the final line of the episode did not suit it at all.)

And don't fret over it, there's nothing wrong with being passionate about something you enjoy. ^_^ For me it's just a a decent attempt at a shoehorn tie up so that ep just gets pushed into the guilty pleasure section. (Despite the fact that I'm a plot geek.)

Yay hat!
