Tonight's episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold featured Batman and Plastic Man teaming up with Uncle Sam to free a planet being oppressed by a tyrant. And Uncle Sam drew strength from expressions of patriotism and the desire for liberty. I know this sounds cheezy as hell; but it was AWESOME!
I must say, considering how a lot of shows that were formally very American have chosen to embrace genericness in the hopes of attracting a foreign audience (GI Joe being the most egregious example); it was surprising and refreshing to see this show embrace Batman's patriotic roots and extol the virtue of American-style patriotism and love for freedom.
Also, I know that Obama cameos in comic book franchises have always been annoying and terribly executed (that Archie cover still haunts my nightmares >_<). But the way it was done here was just perfect (and hilarious)!
God, I love this show! ^_^
