I discovered Red Eye about a year ago. Few people I know have heard of it, so I'm sticking it up here.

The fake "Fox News Alerts" read by Andy Levy are my favorites. This one nearly killed me the first time I saw it because I hadn't heard of Red Eye yet and I was expecting some serious, catastrophic news when the alert popped up:

Here's some of the show's "notorious" intros:

A lot of people automatically dismiss it because it's on Fox News. And its really a shame when people miss out on good stuff just because they're too stubborn to open up their mind a little bit.

I tried to watch Fox News, sometimes because that was what was on when I was working on Synergy, and other times if only to see the "other side" of what's referenced on MSNBC...

...and I found myself having to flee in terror after about 10 minutes. There's this shrillness, like everyone feels they have to yell and be all alarmist and OMFG about everything, and on top of that, with some of the shows the hosts feel the need to talk down to their audience like they're 5 year olds. (I'm looking at YOU, Bill O'Reilly!)

So, um.... yeah. >_>;;; A naughty liberal is me. :P

SEE! You just proved my point! The videos I posted weren't political at all (They were jokes about Mr.Pibb and a news anchor delivering silly intros). But because the words "Fox News" popped up you delivered a pavlovian response about how much Bill O'Reilly frightens you! And, BTW, Bill O'Reilly has nothing to do with Red Eye (in fact, I hear he hates the show because he's the butt of a lot of their jokes).

Honestly, Red Eye resembles South Park more than it resembles The O'Reilly Factor.

Fox seems shrill because, unlike most other cable news outlets, they actually have people from the other side come on and debate. And sometimes those debates get heated. That's why Fox News is so successful! Spirited debates are exciting to watch (I know I love them) and Fox News is the only place that provides them on a regular basis.

And, even though I'm not O'Reilly's biggest fan (he is a bit of a blowhard), I admire the fact that he'll often utter the words "That's a good point" to a liberal guest that he otherwise disagrees with. I honestly can't think of another pundit who does that.

On the other hand, I believe that the reason O'Reilly kicks Olbermann's ass in the ratings is because Olbermann's show is boring! And, not only that, he shamelessly steals the catchphrase of a much better journalist (Murrow) instead of creating his own persona.
And while O'Reilly almost always has a guest who disagrees with him come on to debate the issues of the day; all of Olbermann's guests think exactly the same way he does. That's why he never gets into screaming matches on his show. The average Countdown "debate" goes like this...

-Olbermann: So, is George W Bush evil or REALLY evil?
-Olbermann's Guest: Oh, he's super duper MEGA evil! And so is every other Republican who ever lived!
-Olbermann: Right you are! Moving on...Is Barack Obama merely the sexiest man on Earth, or the sexiest man in the universe? And do you think he'll ever leave Michelle for me?
-Olbermann's Guest: Don't worry. I'm sure he will once gay marriage is legal!
-Olbermann: GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK!!

Sorry if I came off as harsh there. You're obviously welcome to your opinions. But it's does get annoying to watch all my friends succumb to Fox Derangement Syndrome. :-(
