Prayers for Casey Kasem

Sadly, Casey Kasem (American Icon and original voice of Shaggy) has gone missing among a heated legal battle between his wife and his adult children regarding his health care and estate.

I don't want to speculate about who's at fault because my family went through a similar situation with an elderly relative (minus the mysterious disappearance) and there are always two sides to every story. I'm just putting this up so people can offer prayers, news updates, and share fond memories they have of Kasem.

I've listened to this man's voice my whole life (and it took me years to figure out that the smooth Top 40 DJ and Shaggy were the same person). I REALLY hope he's found soon and that some sort of amicable compromise can be made with his family so he can live out his final days in peace.

Agreed.

Hoskins' death was sad. But at least he apparently passed away in peace surrounded by loved ones. I just hate to think that Kasem's final days are going to be spent stressing out over his feuding family members (on top of dealing with his illness).

This hits me hard because family squabbling regarding my grandfather's care got fierce before he died. And I wouldn't wish that heartache on anyone. :(

Woah what?! *arrives about a month late, oops, doesn't use LJ much anymore* Holy shit, this is awful. :( I remember the first time I ever saw him was when he hosted New Year's Eve on Nick at Nite. I didn't find out till years later that he voice Shaggy, and also Mark on Battle of the Planets.

Yeah. I kinda just lurk here now, too. My work hours have been a bitch lately. :(

This story hits me hard because my family went through some bitter fights about my grandfather's care before he passed away (I even had to testify in court over it). And that's why it bothers me to see so many fans (and even news outlets) paint Casem's wife as the devil and his older children as saintly victims when no one outside that family knows all the details.
...granted, his wife seems like a loon. But she doesn't completely fit the profile of the "greedy young trophy wife". So I don't like how nearly every story regarding this case is demonizing her.
