Ever since I discovered this GLORIUS tutorial on transfering paper lineart into photoshop, I've been on a coloring binge! And this was the second old drawing that I opted to fully color (I wanted to practice on something with a background).

And here's the old B&W doodle

Good to see you're starting to add backgrounds!

Another way to convert scanned line art is to make it its own layer and convert it to Multiply (though it will make the lines a little darker, this can be compensated for with dropping the opacity). In short, the Multiply option turns the layer into the equivalent of ink-on-acetate, as the white parts disappear and anything not-white (in this case, black) becomes (somewhat) translucent.

You may also want to browse through the CTRL+Paint videos if you're interested in stepping it up. It's especially relevant to you since 1) you're a Photoshop user and 2) this series is particularly aimed at those transitioning to digital.

I wish I could take credit for the background. But it was HEAVILY borrowed from a page in a Talespin comic book (they're supposed to be fighting in Don Karnage's plane).

Thanks for the links! I'm happy with the method I'm using now. But maybe I'll experiment more once I'm more comfortable playing with the colors.

P.S. My current work schedule is seven days a week. But I should have some holiday time off in November. I'm hoping we can make a visit for my birthday. :)
