First Tablet paint job

Today a wonderfully awesome person named Diane (aka [livejournal.com profile] ichiban_victory) generously donated one of her old Wacom tablets to me. And this was the first thing I attempted to digitally color.

Color test

Obviously, I still have a lot to learn. But hopefully I'll get better as I get used to handling a tablet. It's certainly easier to get colors right on Photoshop than by working with a limited palette of colored pencils

Aha! Yooou joined the Dark Side >:D now to lure you over to Painter as it is superior I mean HELLO

Protip if you aren't doing so already: Line art and color on separate layers. Background should also be its own layer, as a final test against any holes in the color layer. There are some who would even argue that shades/highlights get their own layers, but at least doing the color layer between line art and wireframe/gesture is the way to go. No need to have to worry about coloring inside the lines since you can shave off the excess with the eraser at the end.

I tried corel painter (the software came with the tablet). But there were no layers on it (or I couldn't figure out how to make the layers appear)
