Girly Superhero camp!? Yes, please!

Lauren Faust is working on a new show called "Super Best Friends Forever". Specifically, she's assigned to character design and writing the segments starring the ladies of the DC universe. I think this is a good first step toward making up for the sins of the 'New 52' relaunch.

...you wanna know why it made me so happy? All of the girls have different faces and body types!

Seriously, it REALLY bugs me how a lot of comic book artists who are regarded as gods in the nerd community (**coughbrucetimmcough**) don't seem to understand that not all females look alike. So I'm happy to see Faust demonstrate that it's possible to have a cast full of attractive women who all look different from one another.

I love that producers are no longer afraid of letting their superheroes be silly. I was getting tired of seeing nothing but angst and death and "mature" sexual elements in newer comics and cartoons. Just because a show is fun and innocent doesn't mean it's for babies.

Yeah, I have to say, the varying designs really drew me in. Also, Faust doing Batgirl and supergirl and Wonder girl? Honestly, I can't throw money at this fast enough. Where's the bin to do so?

Faust getting more work is definitely a good thing. I don't know if hiring her was a way of apologizing to female fans for 'New 52'; but it's still a good start.

Definitely loving the different body types. Typical female superheroes always look like they have implants and they've been taking too many steroids. I've always wondered, is that what men really want? It must be, for that type to keep getting repeated over and over (and over).

Yep. Faust worked on The Powerpuff Girls. But right now she's best known as the woman who spawned the new My Little Pony show that is currently taking over the internet.


Even when comic artists don't make the girls look like porn stars; they still have an annoying habit of making them all look alike and giving them all identical faces while all the dudes get to have individual looks. They seem to have one vision of what an "attractive" woman looks like and they just draw that over and over and over. :P
