Character assassination Group Therapy

I had some free time today, so I decided to finish one of the doodles on my pile of half-finished comics. I'm pretty sure dqbunny  suggested this one a few weeks ago (but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, Meg).






For those unfamiliar with some of these characters....


-Pizazz (yes, I realize now that I spelled her name wrong in the drawing >_<): She was the main "baddie" in the show Jem and the Holograms. She was fierce, bitchy, and didn't take crap from anyone in seasons 1 and 2. Then a new "baddie band" were introduced for season 3 and they had Pizazz fall madly in love with the lead singer (Riot) to the point where she would humiliate herself for him and not bother seeking revenge afterward. As much as I liked the Stingers, it still bugs me that Pizazz and the Misfits got cut down a peg just to make room for them.

-Lina Inverse and Princess Amelia: They're the main female characters in the anime Slayers. The Giga Slave line is a reference to a potentially universe-shattering magic spell that Lina (a character who should know better) casually tossed around in season 3.
As for Amelia...she got pretty thoroughly trashed in fanon circles back in the day for whatever reason. That's why all her complaints center around fan-fiction

-Aang and Katara are from the cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender. That cartoon recently got a live-action movie adaptation that was unfathomably awful.

-I wont bother explaining Daphne, Velma, and Scooby because everyone who has watched TV since 1970 knows who they are. As for why they're in therapy...check out the latest Scooby incarnation. That will explain everything.

Totally. Though it would probably be more realistic if Lina rallied Amelia, Pizazz, Aang, and Katara to ditch therapy and strike out for some good ol' fashioned revenge. XD

I think Velma has more of a right to hate Deviant Art than Daphne. Sadly, virtually every Velma pic you find there attaches monstrous, back-snapping torpedo boobs to her chest. >_<

im not sure if they can apply but maybe some of the rescue rangers, darkwing duck characters?? Maybe with another story or something connected? i think it would be fun if you get a chance^^

You know, I CAN think of one (that really gets me going, still after all the playthroughs), but you've not played the game. It's a shame because I really wish you could do one. This strip was entertaining.

Now you've got me curious! Can you tell me who the character is and why s/he got screwed by the canon? I might be able to make something just from reading up on the character.

Anders from Dragon Age: Origins: Awakengings and it's sequel. He's two completely different people from game to game. In Awakenings, he's a lady's man who loves cats and a good time. In DA2, he's a mopey terrorist is is concerned only with FREEING DA MAGES! (I also feel it's necessary to mention that he now also likes guys, even though he has given us no indication in the expansion that he may have swung both ways.) I also feel that I need to mention he now sucks at healing, even though he's a Spirit Healer. (OK, go look this up, I could go on for hours about this.)

Amelia got a lot of fan hate by standing too close to Zelgadis. Rabid Zelgadis fangirls accused her of "glomping" him, which just goes to show how crazed they were. In the entire anime, Amelia never does anything to him anywhere near this "glomping" (which seems to be an overzealous form of the hug). But yes, the flame wars she caused just by being in close proximity to Zelgadis...

And now I am clueless about "T&A". I hope it doesn't mean what comes to mind! o_O

I came into the Slayers fandom later than most of the people in our circle did. So luckily I only experienced a tiny bit of the Amelia hate. Thank goodness it pretty much went away once the crazy fans either grew out of their rabid phase or moved on to a new show/fandom.


T&A is an abbreviation of "t*ts and ass".

Nah, I'm just a fossil, here to dispense tales of woe and horror from the old days...which is sad, since I didn't tap into the online Slayers fandom until...1998? 2000? It was pretty bad back then, but I'm glad most people didn't witness it. I can poke fun, but it was not a good time for being a fan, especially if one preferred characters like Amelia, or didn't understand why so many people paired Lina off with Zelgadis. Scary, scary times. o_O

...okay, that's what I was thinking it might mean, but I was hoping to be wrong! More innocence lost, courtesy of the internet. ^_^;;

This is awesome! I love how Velma is the voice of reason in the group too. XD

If you're looking for more characters the whole cast of Fairy Odd Parents is good to use. Seriously, with Timmy alone they make him far more selfish and a jerk in the later seasons than he was in the first season.

Also, This tv tropes page is probably a good source if you're looking for more characters to use

I'd have to dedicate an entire comic to that show since pretty much the entire cast got screwed over in later seasons! It makes me sad how Wanda and Cosmo went from being a loving married couple to a pair of jerks who clearly belonged in Divorce Court. -_-

Poor Aang. The best thing he can hope for is coming back as a ghost in Korra. LOL

I remember you telling me that story about your sister. I think the only reason I was saved from brain injury was because I didn't spend money to see the movie.
