Do you think that modern pop music is atonal, amoral garbage?

I have a teenage sister who listens to 'Party in the USA', the new Brittany Spears song, and Lady Gaga 24/7. And, is it just me, or do all modern pop songs sound exactly the same? They're all so electronically muffled that you can't understand most of the lyrics (and the ones you can understand are really gross >_<). My sister thinks I'm just an old fuddy duddy; but I can't be the only one who feels this way.

Luckily, I found a music reviewer on YouTube who feels the same and expresses it in a hilarious way. Watching his videos makes me feel a lot better about being out of touch with the youngsters and their dadgum music. Check it out:

I've noticed a trend over the years that the newer the music, the harder it is to make out just what the heck the singer is saying. I've not made it a point to keep up to date on music since...never, I still remember back when I was a kid and I thought 'Deaf Leopard' was just that - a deaf leopard. Granted, every now and again a good song comes along, but for the most part I just leave them alone.

That second video made me sad though, if Britney Spears is referring to Peter, Paul and Mary. I too grew up listening to them and I still love their music. With music like theirs you could at least understand what was being said!

Man, and music is getting really raunchy anymore..

I was also never big on keeping up with music trends. I only know the popular songs today because my sister and her friends listen to them constantly.
I remember following hip-hop back when artists like Will Smith and TLC were all the rage. Looking back, I really admire Smith for keeping his songs clean and TLC for having such empowering lyrics. Especially now that almost all popular hip-hop is full of garbled lyrics about degrading women. It makes it hard to believe that a goofy song like 'Baby Got Back' was really controversial not too long ago.

The Peter, Paul, and Mary thing made me sad, too (and I don't blame the dude for ranting about it). I just hope that "Peter, Paul, and Mary" doesn't become a slang term for icky threesomes among the young folks. >_<

Raunchy music gets on my nerves, too. My dormmates/co-workers back in Denver gave me such a hard time when I complained about the gross music they listened to in the Government van we were FORCED to share.
Apparently, you're a frigid killjoy if you want to have just ONE work day a week where no songs about "killing niggas" and "f***ing hos" are allowed.
