Game review: the Sly Cooper Series

I recently dug out and replayed Sly Cooper 2 and Sly Cooper 3: Honor Among Thieves for the Playstation 2. This series is, hands down, just the best! It's a breath of fresh air considering that most modern JRPGs are derivative as hell and most American games released today star an angsty muscle-man "hero" who runs around butchering people/aliens/whatever in increasingly gruesome ways.

For those who've never played, Sly Cooper is like a mix of Ocean's 11 and the best Disney Afternoon shows. The games all have stories that are deep, yet clean enough that you could play it and let a 5-year-old watch. The first game plays like Crash Bandicoot. But the second and third games have absolutely addicting gameplay. And the artstyle is beautiful. The cartoony graphics and character designs really make it stand out.
Best of all, all three games in the series are "Greatest Hits" titles, so you can get them super cheap on Amazon or at Gamestop. I HIGHLY reccomend picking them up (you can skip the first game, though) if you love video games and you need a fix.

Oh, another reason to get this game is the characters. Sly and Carmelita's romantic twist on the Lupin-Zenigata relationship is so fun to watch.

Clearly somebody needs more Metal Gear. >_>

No-kill runs = :D
(blood is messy and makes guard flunkies freak out and run around like headless chickens.)

Sounds...odd. Personally, I prefer games that have nothing to do with shooting others. As it is, I have a lot of new(ish) games I wish I could play, but school takes away all of my free time.

Save for boss fights, one actually COULD go through without shooting. It involves making friends with a cardboard box. :D

Also I approve of Mario nerdery. Must preorder New SMB Wii... holding out in case Gamestop pulls a Chrono Trigger DS and posts a free overnight shipping promotion a week or so before release. (That was AWESOME.)

Yeah, right after I left a comment I realized what Metal Gear was. I'm used to hearing it as Metal Gear Solid, but sadly I never got to play. I did get to see the Gamecube remake...which one of these days I ought to hunt down because I love Silicon Knights. Anyway..the cardboard box is awesome! I'm happy they kept than in for Smash Bros. Brawl.

I'd not call it nerdery so much, it's more that I've been playing Mario games since I was alive (since I came into being about the same time Mario did). As long as Mario games continue to be fun, I'll continue to play them. I'm eagerly waiting for the New Super Mario Bros. Wii game when it comes out, I've had it reserved already. I'm hoping to see any kind of cool promo for it. (I didn't know that about Chrono Trigger DS, but I'll be thankful I found it used -in mint condition!- in the bargain bin at Gamestop. And one of these days I'll even get around to beating it again..)

Eh, I tend to use odd phrasing for things. >_>;
Though I wear the nerd label with pride. I freaking hacked my cell phone to add in a coin ringtone (among others). >:D

Oh yes, the box is most definitely in Brawl... as Snake's taunt. Only one he gets, where everyone gets two.

Actually, there are three taunts, it can just be difficult to get the third since you need to press 1 and 2 at the same time.
