Update....

Big stuff has gone on over the past month....

I moved back to Southern California about 3 weeks ago because I lost my job in Colorado. :(

I really hated having to move back in with my parents. But the Colorado job was just too physically demanding for me and, coupled with Denver's insane altitude, I just couldn't keep up with my co-workers. So right now I'm on the hunt for a new job. But its really scary because California's economy is even worse off than the rest of the country. A career counselor I met in Denver suggested looking for work with non-profit organizations (since I now have experience doing that stuff) and that The United Way is a good place to start. Hopefully, that'll open some doors for me.

On top of that, I applied for a cheaper Health Insurance plan (since Blue Cross doubled my monthly rate for no reason recently). Now I have to wait for that to go through.

Losing a job so suddenly is really scary! Luckily, I have enough in my savings account to last  me a few months. I just hope a steady job comes my way before i have to start dipping into my savings.

Wish me luck everyone!

Thanks for the support *hugs back*

I was very suprised when I got back home and The Terminator/Governor of California was saying that he might have to set some prisoners free if his budget propositions don't pass in the special election (the election was held May 19)!! I knew this state was in trouble but...damn. O_o

As for work...luckily my old boss at the restaurant I worked at before I moved agreed to call me in if he ever needed and extra hand. So basically, I get called in if they ever need a spare waitress, hostess, or busser. Its not stable, but at least its a little extra cash here and there. The cool part is that a lot of the customers remembered me and were happy to see me again. That cheered me up. :)

*hugs* I'm so sorry as well! I've definitely been there and I was terrified that I'd have to move back to Alabama to be with my folks. Thankfully, it was agreed by all that there was more work here in Phoenix (which proved to be true and I found a job after three months). What type of experience do you have? Anything that can translate to freelance work?

Over the past few months, I've done a lot of work with various non-profit organizations. According to a career counselor I spoke to back in Colorado, most non-profits tend to do OK even during recessions. So I'm currently looking into that. Wish me luck! :)

I've pondered leaving California for work. But being thousands of miles away from all my friends and family (pretty much 99% of my friends and family live here in SoCal) was a LOT more difficult than I thought it would be when I first moved back in October. Especially since my parents are currently struggling with medical and financial issues.
