This comic is based on stories I've heard from cosplay girls about ugly jerkwads hypocritically telling them they're not "hot enough" to dress up as a particular heroine.

I also took some inspiration from the Tony Harris incident.

When Charlie and I were at Awesome Con we definitely saw some girls who were...a little too comfortable with their bodies, if you get my meaning. But yeesh, telling someone outright they aren't hot enough to cosplay? Wow.

Did you ever make a post about that convention? I've been sporadic about checking my Friend List, so I may have missed it.

Sadly, some people just have no respect for boundaries. I wore a modest Hawkgirl costume a few years back; and some creepy dude got ANGRY at me because I wouldn't let him touch my costume! That experience turned me off cosplay for a while. :(

Oh, don't worry. I cosplayed MANY times after that (just check out the "cosplay" tag on my LJ page ~_^). That incident just scared me away from the San Diego Comic Con for good

oh man, there was one person who glommed on to me...and recognized me THREE YEARS later...it was so weird.
