I recently bought some back issues of the old "Disney Afternoon Comic Collection". And these covers absolutely cracked me up:

...and now I cannot stop myself from imagining how much funnier The Little Mermaid would have been if Ariel had obsessed over Darkwing Duck instead of Prince Eric.
I posted these images on Tumblr, and [livejournal.com profile] earthstar_moon decided to play the devil on my shoulder and encourage me to draw this AU crack ship. So the upcoming comic is her fault, not mine! XD

Crack-Ship under the cut.... )

If there's interest in this story, I will continue it! I have some free time coming next week!

So, my desktop computer refuses to turn on (I'm currently using the old laptop that I gave to my mom a few months back). And, like a dumbass, I've been lazy about backing my stuff up on the external hard drive lately. So, if I can't at least retrieve the files from it, a TON of scanned drawings/photos/etc are going to be lost.

So, I just thought I'd ask anyone who might be tech savvy and/or has had this problem before what's up. Maybe I can at least troubleshoot this myself before I shell out cash for professional help.
I have a buddy who is a computer whiz; but it's hard to coordinate our schedules to get together and I don't want to wait too long before trying something. I also heard that a dude who handles the servers at my work might have a side business doing this sort of thing; so hopefully that pans out.

I just REALLY hope I don't have to resort to Best Buy's Geek Squad. In my experience, they tend to be inexperienced kids at best and and outright shysters at worst. >_<

Any advice would be appreciated!

This post is [livejournal.com profile] secondlina 's fault. She gave me the idea.

After drawing this comic I got to thinking....does Batman think that ambushing people in the shower is the best way to handle a grievance (or any confrontation for that matter)? I like to think the answer is "yes"! So expect to see more comics like this.
Also, I'm kinda hoping that "Batman in the Shower" becomes a new meme. ~_^

[livejournal.com profile] sarajayechan is to blame for this bit of weirdness (she brought it up in this thread).

ARTIST NOTE: One of my co-workers is into 50 Shades and used the SAME argument that Daphne uses in #3 to defend her guilty pleasure. XD

I've heard good things about the work of Tony Harris over the years. But I'm wondering if I should swear his comic books off from now on (and encourage my fellow nerd girls to do the same) after this dude recently outed himself as a massive, sexist piece of shit.

I'm a little late to this outrage party. But I wanna put in my 2 cents anyway (since I happen to be one of those "COSPLAY-Chiks" he despises so much)...

The Disney Channel is doing a sequel series to the classic TGIF sit-com Boy Meets World starring Corey and Topanga's daughter! The new series will be called 'Girl Meets World' and Ben Savage & Danielle Fishel have already confirmed that they're coming back for the new series.

I'm not sure how to feel about this. On the one hand, my inner nostalgic child is elated to know that I'll get to see Corey and Topanga as a grown up married couple with careers and a family (btw, the fact that those two are now old enough to have a teenage daughter makes me feel EXTREMELY old). I literally grew up with these characters. So getting to see them again as adults just feels right.
And if they ever have a huge reunion episode featuring Mr Feeny, Shawn, Corey's parents & siblings, Jack, Angela, and Minkus; I might just die of nostalgia overload (and I would NOT regret it!!)

On the other hand, The Disney Channel has a reputation for using it's live-action tween sit-coms as a way to promote their revolving door of untalented, cookie-cutter little pop stars. And it would kill me to see the characters of Corey and Topanga reduced to being incubators for the next Hannah Montana.

I'll try to keep an open mind and I'll definitely watch this when it premiers! On the bright side, it was recently confirmed that most of the old writing/creative team from Boy Meets World will be working on the new show. So at least we don't have to worry about this thing being helmed by some executive who doesn't get it.

So, how do my fellow 90s kids feel about this? Are you excited, terrified, or both?

For the love of all that's holy, never ever EVER search the "scooby" or "velma" tags on tumblr. Trust me on this. Just.....don't do it. >_<

Hey, remember back in my Fridging of Velma Dinkley essay when I joked that:
At least Velma was never sexually assaulted or severely beaten in Mystery Incorporated (however, the show was green lit for another season; so I wouldn’t put it past them just yet...)

Well, Velma wasn't sexually assaulted in the latest episode (she's an ugly, un-rapeable troll, remember?). But someone else was. Take a wild guess who.

Trigger Warning for horrors under the cut..... )

I....don't know what to make of this. Up until now, my over-the-top raging about this show was mostly a running joke (since CN essentially killed it with bad scheduling a long time ago and MI's canon hasn't seeped into any other Scooby projects). But now I am genuinely PISSED OFF! Like, I have half a mind to write angry letters to Warner Bros, spread this news to feminist blogs, and write reviews on all the "Parental Watchdog" websites so parents know that this show is bad for kids (and adults) on every conceivable level.

WHERE THE HELL WERE THE NETWORK CENSORS WHEN WE FINALLY NEEDED THEM!?!?!

This is what passed for "Mature Women's Comics" back in the day. I found it in a dollar bin at a con a while back and I just HAD to share it here. The cheese is just glorious!!

The first story centers around a White female social worker who falls madly in love with a hot-tempered Puerto Rican man who lives in the ghetto she works in. He doesn't love her back; so she stalks him like a creeper despite the fact that she already has a loving boyfriend. Apparently, us ladies are supposed to find this romantic.

Looking up bad PSAs on YouTube lead me to this 1984 video starring Henry Winkler and The Fonz (apparently, they're two different people) that was made to teach kids about sexual abuse. It uses clips from Hanna-Barbera cartoons to make it's point because Fonzie is not satisfied with stealing children's innocence by letting them know that rapists exist in the real world. He wants to make sure you know that rapists exist in Cartoon Land as well. And the rapists are gunning for you AND your dog!

Oh, and John Ritter is involved, too. Because why not.

If you're feeling brave/masochistic, watch the videos under the cut... )

You may be asking why I chose to share this. It's because, if I have to suffer, I don't wanna do it alone.

The season two premiere of the-show-that-shall-not-be-named was leaked a few weeks ago and I couldn't help reading the spoilers someone posted at the [livejournal.com profile] scooby_doo comm I moderate (and then skimming the video when it surfaced on YouTube). Most people who saw the episode like it but...it made even LESS sense than last season (if that's even possible). I didn't want to vent my spleen all over the comm since I'm one of the mods and I don't want to give the impression that I'm trying to shame people who like Mystery Incorporated; so I'm gonna vent here instead. That way all of you who are also morbidly curious can bypass the pain of actually watching this train wreck. You're welcome.

Some people have a strange definition of the word "Misogynist". I recently found out that it means "any criticism of a female character even if said criticism is just a mild parody and not meant to be taken seriously". I'm not kidding! I posted this comic mocking a My Little Pony episode and it started an amusing wank storm! Check it out here!

I know this statement sounds really hypocritical coming from someone like me (i.e. a girl who never misses an opportunity to rage against the-show-that-shall-not-be-named). But I'm gonna share it with y'all anyway. Because everyone loves watching a train wreck. XD
