I recently bought some back issues of the old "Disney Afternoon Comic Collection". And these covers absolutely cracked me up:

...and now I cannot stop myself from imagining how much funnier The Little Mermaid would have been if Ariel had obsessed over Darkwing Duck instead of Prince Eric.
I posted these images on Tumblr, and [livejournal.com profile] earthstar_moon decided to play the devil on my shoulder and encourage me to draw this AU crack ship. So the upcoming comic is her fault, not mine! XD

Crack-Ship under the cut.... )

If there's interest in this story, I will continue it! I have some free time coming next week!

I can't wait for this issue of Darkwing to come out. I don't even care if it's good. I just want that cover!!

OH HELL YEAH!!

If Scrooge shows up, this will officially be the crown jewel of my comic book collection (sorry, Bone omnibus!).
My inner child is in love with Boom Comics. ^_^

I guess this scene from Darkwing issue#3 was foreshadowing...

....wouldn't it be neat if they shared the same universe? ~_^
Oh, and Gadget has no right to get snotty with Launchpad. Her track record isn't much better than his. XD

Wow. I had a feeling Boom would take on another Disney Afternoon property when Darkwing started selling like hotcakes. But I never imagined Rescue Rangers would be the first. I LOVE the Rescue Rangers and I think the series will make a good comic; but it was never quite as popular or "epic" as other shows, so I didn't think it would ever get one. I'm so glad to be proven wrong!

If Boom makes a Talespin series and picks up the Gargoyles comic where SLG left off, it'll officially be the most awesome comic book company EVER!

I've been eagerly anticipating this release and it was well worth the wait. I HIGHLY reccommend picking this up if you loved Darkwing, the Disney Afternoon, or just love good clean fun superhero stories (which are sadly rare now that "dark and gritty" is all the rage).

Mild spoilers under the cut )

I really hope this series sells tons of copies and convinces Disney to let Boom Comics adapt other Disney Afternoon shows (mainly the totally awesome and woefully underrated Talespin) or even pick up the Gargoyles series that SLG didn't know what to do with.

According to comic vine and other nerdy news sites, a small comic company is releasing a Darkwing Duck 4 issue mini-series this month!! O_o

I wish I knew who the writer is. I'd be more excited about this if I knew the writer was a good one (**please be Tad Stones**).

I'm VERY surprised to see this news considering that the only other Disney Afternoon show to get a recent comic (Gargoyles) didn't sell well despite having a religiously devout fanbase and it's own freakin' convention. I suppose they're trying to use Darkwing to latch on to the current Superhero/Batman fad. But that's a bit of a stretch.

I wonder if this will lead to other Disney Afternoon shows getting comics. I know I'd be on cloud nine if I could see Talespin get a proper send-off in comic form. Talespin doesn't get nearly as much praise and love as it deserves (the animation on the planes is breathtaking even by TODAY'S standards!). And it still breaks my heart that it didn't get a movie or a finale episode.

I found these images floating on my computer and I figure everyone here who enjoyed the Disney Afternoon as a kid would get a kick out of them. Legend of the Chaos God was a crossover of all the popular Disney Afternoon shows (Talespin, Rescue Rangers, Goof Troop, Ducktales, and Darkwing Duck) and it was published in Disney Adventures magazine back in the mid-1990s. It starts with the Talespin cast finding (and re-hiding) a cursed artifact in the 1930s and then the casts of the other shows find it and defeat it in their respective eras. It's really fun!
